Symptoms of Anemia

A person with anemia will feel tired and weak because the body's tissues are being starved of oxygen. In fact, fatigue is the main symptom of most types of anemia. The severity of symptoms is in part related to the severity of anemia. Mild anemia can occur without symptoms and may be detected only during a medical exam that includes a blood test.

Causes of Anaemia

1. Loss of blood

2. Deficient production of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin

3. Red blood cells being broken down too quickly

4. Inadequate intake of iron, vitamins and proteins

5. Heavy loss of blood due to injury

6. Bleeding piles

7. Lack of hydrochloric acid in the stomach

8. Intestinal parasites or worms

9. Certain inherited blood diseases eg. thalassaemia

10. Lack of Vitamin B12

Home Remedies for Anemia

1. Blackstrap molasses is a rich source of iron. For adults take one tablespoon of it and for children take one teaspoon every day.

2. Beet is useful home remedy in increasing blood red blood cells level. For many years this has been used for treating anemia. Extract roughly 50ml of beet juice and have it once a day. Beneficial if taken empty stomach in morning. One can add carrot juice to it for enhancing the effect. Both carrot and beet are rich source of iron and natural supplement for increasing the iron levels.

3. Consuming certain food articles daily can increase the red blood cells level. These items are celery, cherries, broccoli, lettuce, parsley, pears, whole grains, peas, barley, seeds, beets, carrots, tomatoes, figs, dates and nuts. They all should be taken in your diet for increasing the hemoglobin levels in blood.

4. Fenugreek in also efficient in treating anemia. Leaves of fenugreek are cooked and taken two times a day for those who have very low levels of hemoglobin. Those with moderate form can take fenugreek seeds. They too are rich source of iron. Take one teaspoon of it daily till red blood cell level is normal and continue thereafter also for few months for better results.
