subject: Job Search Blues? Lay Them Off [print this page]

The feeling of being independent and doing what one likes with his/ her money is beautiful. The time spent on jobs make for more than 60% of our work life as we spend almost the entire day in the office. The rest of the time goes away in traveling, catching up on the sleep and other trivia. We may crib about our jobs, bosses, lack of time, lesser opportunities for socializing and hundreds of other things but we cannot deny the fact that we cannot live without our jobs. This is why those who dont have jobs and are searching for one are usually found to be upset or morally low.

The numbers of Job in India are limited and the ratio of jobs to population of the country seems to never reach an agreement. The phase of joblessness seems to be touching everyones lives now with the prolonged stay of global recession. From top notch managers to lower level executives across all companies from global leaders to start-up firms, every one has been equally affected by the economic slowdown. Though, recession in India was not on as large scale as in other nations like US, UK, etc. and it endured the phase quite well but it definitely deprived many of their jobs. But, the hopes of boost in economy have been revived now with blanket of slowdown lifting up and generating more career opportunities for job seekers in India.

The revival of Indian economy is on its threshold with large number of companies opening up options of employment for many. But, this recovery cannot happen overnight, it will still take some more time for resilience of the economy. So, if you are searching for a job for long without much success, you shouldnt feel disheartened. There is a popular saying that All good things take time, so here are a few tips to remain motivated and high in spirits listed below:

- Dont lose your nerve. Keep patience. Dont be discouraged.

Job search is tiring as you have to keep striving for your kind of job and it always is a long wait before you actually get to taste the fruit of success. It is important to not get carried away by any job that comes your way but wait for the right one. But, at the same time, you have to be wise and be able to differentiate between the good and not-so-good ones. You should be capable of weeding out the wrong ones from the options available and select the one you deserve or that promises growth in future.

- Be motivated. Dont be extra sensitive. Know what is important.

You must understand that joblessness can be a part of anyones life as there are some uncontrollable factors which you cant do anything about. It does not mean, in any way, that those who lose jobs are bad or incompetent; it is just that you have not got the right opportunity to cash upon. Even if you have not been working for few weeks or months due to the large scale layoffs operations, it is not that you were laid down because you didnt deserve the job. It may be that the company felt you deserve better and they could not waste your talent by keeping you engaged in an environment with lesser opportunities.

Pay attention to all the good things in life and keep yourself happy. Thank God for what you have while working hard and smart to succeed. Success late is, sometimes, actually the most well deserved success. SO keep your fingers crossed and start looking for a job with renewed hopes and enthusiasm.
