Vacations in Curacao are indeed a spectacular experience because there are a slew of things that one can do. From underwater activities to rugged terrain adventures, there would always be something for every person who ever decides to visit the island. If this is your first time visiting, it would be wise to research ahead so that you can plan the best getaway possible. Shall we look at the basics?

Curacao is considered to be one of the finest islands in the Caribbean. It is also the largest and the most populous in the Netherlands Antilles group of islands. Currently, the island has around 150,000 residents with the majority living in Willemstad, which is the islands capital. Unlike other beaches that stretch on and on, Curacao has got plenty of small bays and inlets that offer beach goers a more intimate experience. Basically, instead of having to share your beach space with hundreds of other people, you get to have a patch of the beach to yourself. What could be better, right?

Well, in Curacao, it certainly gets better. As mentioned earlier, the island has got both in land and underwater activities for people to enjoy. For starters, we have the Dolphin Academy where people can learn how to interact with these intelligent creatures. The best bit is that they have daily educational presentations that you can attend for free. Besides the presentation, you can also take the time to observe the dolphins in their natural lagoon. If you wish to get closer, you can enjoy other activities such as the dolphin open water dive, the dolphin snorkel, the dolphin swim and the dolphin encounter.

If you want to do something on land, you can even enjoy a horseback riding adventure in the island. These tours could last for a few hours because it would take you to the Zoutpannen at Jan Thiel or to the northern coast of the island. If you want something faster, a jeep safari should feed your need for speed. Get up close and personal with the spectacular country side of Curacao whilst enjoying views of its pristine beaches.

Looking for a way to beat the heat? Well, windsurfing should provide you with a solution to that. If its your first time doing it, dont fret. There are numerous shops in all of Curacaos beaches where you would be able to rent the equipment you need and at the same time, find someone who could to teach you the ropes and get you up and going within an hour.

After a days worth of adventure, you would surely need to rest before you could head on to the next activities on your list. For that, you would need the best Curacao accommodations. Luckily, there are plenty of places to stay in the island. One of the more affordable places to stay would be at Blue View Apartments. This place has its own beach as well as apartments with either 1 or 2 bedrooms that all have a private balcony with its own view of the ocean.

If you are looking for something a bit swankier, Home Sweet Home is certainly worth a look. This is a mini-resort that features 4 apartments that has all the amenities of luxury hotels Curacao. It also has a penthouse where you would be able to enjoy grandiose views of the ocean and some parts of the island itself. The best bit about it is the location. Its only 5 minutes away from some of the best beaches and 10 minutes away from downtown Punda. Kids would also enjoy the swimming pool with a tropical setting where they would be able to enjoy themselves if the beaches get a bit too crowded.
