subject: Need More Room In That Crowded Closet? Get A Closet Organizer [print this page]

If your closet is messy and cluttered, a closet organizer can help you reclaim wasted space and more efficiently organize your belongings. Every home has at least one or more closets, but they are typically not organized very well. Most closets have a lot of wasted space that - if properly utilized - could free up space to store a lot more things. This lack of closet storage space can cost you big time. Unless you use your garage, attic, or external storage shed for storage, you may need to rent a storage unit to store all of your stuff. To avoid this problem of inadequate storage, a closet organizer is an ideal solution.

Closet organizers are typically made of three different materials: plastic, wire or wood. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Wood is strong, durable, and beautiful, but also costly. Wire systems are strong and relatively inexpensive compared to wood. Plastic is inexpensive, but also not as durable or strong as either wood or wire. Of the three, wire offers the best combination of functionality, durability, and price.

Shop around on the internet, or go to your local home improvement store to check out the different systems that are available. Whatever you decide to get, whether wood, wire or plastic, its important that you choose an organizer that will fit your needs and your budget.

Depending on your storage needs, you can purchase organizer components separately, or you can buy a complete kit. Buying individual pieces is fine if you are only installing a few shelves or rods. However, if you want a more complete system, then consider getting a kit, which contains everything you need to transform the entire closet .

You must also decide if you want to have your closet organizer installed by a contractor, or if you want to do it yourself. Most home improvement stores and many online stores have a list of approved contractors that can install your kit within a reasonable amount of time of purchase. Or if youre adventurous, or dont want to wait for a contractor to do it for you, you can Do-it-yourself (DIY).

If you go the DIY route, its important that you accurately measure your closet area first. Then get your tools together, and buy any tools you may not have. If you are unsure about what you need, you can get a list of the necessary tools from the retailer. Common tools you need will include a tape measure, level, drill, hack saw, pencil, hammer, screw driver, and stud finder. Once you have all of your tools in place, you can begin installation of the organizer in your closet, following the instructions included with the kit. In no time at all, you will have the closet organizer in place, and ready for you to begin efficiently organizing your closet items.
