Breast Reduction Liposuction Is Popular, But Some Women Aren't Good Candidates For The Surgery

Many women like the idea of being able to change their breasts. Breast implants have become popular and surprisingly common as many women try to increase breast size or at least change breast shape. Other women get their breasts reduced through noninvasive breast liposuction. This article will discuss what factors may make some women may not be good candidates for this surgery and why.

For some women, breast liposuction seems like a dream come true. Oversized breasts can make the female body seem out of proportion.

Even when this isn't the case, some women are irritated by having large breasts and would like to have some fat removed from their breasts.

This tendency to want to change the breasts is an increasing trend in American society marked by the extensive use of breast implants and specialty bras.

Although traditional breast reduction surgery has been performed for many years, liposuction is a good alternative for many reasons.

Modern breast liposuction is done with the use of microcannulas so small that not a mark is left after a brief recovery. (The cannula is the tube through which fat is sucked from the body during the surgery.)

The fact that virtually no scarring occurs is a big plus for many women who want to keep their breast reduction under the radar.

Despite the huge success rates of breast liposuction, it isn't for everyone. Some factors can potentially disqualify a woman from being able to get the surgery.

One thing that determines who is a good candidate for breast liposuction is the kind of fat found in the breast.

Although many women have a lot of superficial fat (meaning that it is soft and easy to remove by liposuction) in their breasts, occasionally some women have tough and fibrous fat that is not easily broken down during liposuction.

The breasts are made up of mammary and glandular tissue in addition to fat and sometimes it is difficult to remove the fat without damaging the surrounding tissues. For this reasons, women who have the fibrous fat are not very good candidates for breast liposuction.

For who have overly large breasts are also not good candidates because only relatively small amounts of fat can be removed during liposuction.

Also, hanging or sagging breasts that contain very little fat cannot be helped by the surgery. This is true also for women are very thin. Without excessive fat, liposuction is not effective.

If a woman has a lump of the breast, no surgeon will do cosmetic work on the breast until the lump has been evaluated and proven to be non-cancerous.

The best candidates for liposuction are very healthy and have some small pockets of excessive fat in areas from which fat can be safely removed.

Not everyone is a good candidate, but for those who are, it is a minor and comparatively safe surgery with small but generally successful results.
