subject: Get New Windows And Doors And Get Green [print this page]

These are all moves that will have a beneficial effect on the environment and help us to slow the effect of global warming. It is a real issue that needs to be tackled now, and every individual has a part to play, whether that is through recycling at home, using energy efficient light bulbs or making fewer car journeys and instead walking the few minutes to work. There are lots of things that we can all do to help reduce our impact on the planet.

Homeowners can also take a number of steps to help the environment, for example making sure their house is as energy efficient as possible. If you are heating up a house, only for that heat to be lost through windows and doors then you are harming the environment. Taking steps to rectify the problem by fitting double glazed uPVC windows and doors can be extremely beneficial. And not only will you help make your house more energy efficient but you will also save yourself cash.

Double glazing works by trapping a layer of air between two panes of glass. This air acts as a barrier to prevent heat escaping from the property and the upshot is that if heat is stopped from getting outside, then it will take less energy to heat your house. And when you use less energy you pay less in bills. Everyone wins. Double glazing can also cut down on condensation and noise.

The same is true with house doors. When you have old, ill-fitting doors, the likelihood that hot air will be able to escape is quite high, and who wants to have money just slipping straight out of the front door. If a ten pound note blew out of your front door youd go and try to catch it, so why pay good money to warm your house, only to see the hot air vanish?
