Nirvana was formed on 1987, released their first studio album entitled "Bleach" in 1988, released the "Nevermind" album with Geffen Records on 1991, performed for England's Reading Festival in 1992, released their final studio album "In Utero" in 1993, and went on their European tour with Cobain's death in 1994.

The band Nirvana is a short-lived American rock band in the early 90's, which has been titled as generation X's "flagship band". Even with the band's brief running with Cobain's death, the band's popularity still endured up to the present. Nirvana made grunge music a popular sub-genre in the mainstream of the music industry.

Formed on 1987

Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic are the pioneering members of Nirvana. Being a fan of The Melvins in the 80's, the two formed their own band a couple of years after they first met in 1985. With a changing succession of band members and band title, Cobain thought that Nirvana would simply represent a beautiful name for the band in 1988. On the same year they also settled with Chad Channing for the drums to complete the final band members.

Released their first studio album entitled "Bleach" in 1988

Nirvana recorded their first studio album under Subpop, an independent record label in Seattle, produced by Jack Endino. The first album's music was notable with riffs from the punk-rock of the 80's and heavy metal of the 70's. The album's single received numerous air plays in the national college stations and was given a platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association in America.

Released the "Nevermind" album with Geffen Records on 1991

In 1990, Nirvana signed with Deffen Geffen Company (DGC). DGC studio is the band's first major recording label. They recorded their second album in Sound City Studios, produced by Butch Vig. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the album's career single. The song received a generous amount of airplay in MTV which accelerated the album's popularity. In a year, Nevermind became number one in the billboard charts.

Performed for England's Reading Festival in 1992

Nirvana's live performance in Reading Festival is one of the band's best-known act. In 1992, the band minimized their concert tour in support with the "Nevermind" album after Cobain's marriage. With the buzzing worries of the band to dissolve, Nirvana gave an outstanding and unforgettable performance in the Reading Festival right after the birth of Cobain's first child. They ripped the stage with Cobain's wheelchair act and an exhilarating performance of new and old materials.

Released their final studio album "In Utero" in 1993

Kurt Cobain thought that Nirvana's musical message was misinterpreted by the mainstream. In attention to this, they released their third and final studio album in 1993. "In Utero" is produced by Steve Albini and is viewed as a "natural" studio recording. Although, several label conflicts confused Nirvana fans about the released of the album, it made its way to the top as number 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1993.

Went on their European tour with Cobain's death in 1994.

Nirvana went on a series of concerts and tours in support with the released of the third album. The band also performed for MTV Unplugged which debuted on December of 1993. After the performance, Nirvana went on a European tour on the start of the following year. Kurt Cobain was then diagnosed with bronchitis and severe laryngitis on one of the tour stop in Germany which canceled the remaining leg of the tour. His drug addiction with heroin later surfaced a few weeks after their European tour. Kurt Cobain was then rehabilitated but escaped the facility back to Seattle a week after. He was later on found dead with a self-inflicted gun shot wound in the head. He committed suicide on the 8th of April in 1994.

With Cobain's death Nirvana was dissolved but the legacy and the band's music of top caliber grunge went on. Compilation and released DVD performances of Nirvana continue to sell like pancakes internationally. This goes out to prove that Nirvana is one of America's top alternative rock band.
