subject: Three Reasons You Can Do Without A Pda [print this page]

Expensive phones are the order of the day, but if you are wondering whether you really need the greatest PDA around, read on.

When the PDA was first introduced to the world, it was almost as expensive and as clunky as owning a spaceship. However, with emerging technologies and new infrastructure, there are several PDAs available today that are available at budget prices and do not look like something that the cat brought in. This has, of course, given rise to a false rise in demand for PDAs. People who could live their entire life without using the thin trackball today think that their life is incomplete with a Blackberry or a Palm. If you are wondering whether a PDA is right for you, or whether you can still live a satisfactory life with your so called dumb phone, read on.

#1 Reason You Do Not Need a PDA: You are at home with an internet connected computer - all the time

I know several work at homers who buy the latest gadget and device that gives them all the accessibility to information theyd have at home, even though they are at home all the time. Seriously speaking, a PDA is supposedly a device that is used to communicate when one cannot access the computer. When you are at the computer all day, why would you need a device that is priced at thrice the rate of other cellphones because it has POP3 Email?

#2 Reason You Do Not Need a PDA: None of your friends are actually unreachable

Ever heard of the term all dressed up and nowhere to go? Buy a PDA and dont have anybody to add to that great mobile instant messenger or send a smiley filled email through the mobile mail program and you will get an idea of what it means. The cellphone has made communication very simple, but you should also take into consideration whether you have any friends who are globe trotters enough to be unreachable.

#3 Reason You Do not Need a PDA: You cannot use it

Yes, it is accepted that people learn to use a device only after using it for a while, and its a good thing to learn a new skill when it comes out in the market, but are you sure that you need to learn how to use a PDA to connect with Aunt Jane, or Cousin Newman? Think about it. Of course, with the prices fallen down, it would be practical for most to put in a few dollars more to get a get PDA as compared to the traditional dumb phone, but saving a little bit of money never hurt anyone.
