Stop by the Anna Maria City Jail, a favorite attraction and one that has been standing since 1927. The city jail was made of thick blocks and had sinks, toilets and a septic tank. The jail was built when there was "high crime" at the time. However, by the Depression there was no longer a need for it and in 1940's there was a fire that all but destroyed it.
