subject: Four Essential Tips For Weight Loss After Giving Birth [print this page]

You never thought the day would comeYou never thought the day would come. Just when you didnt think your feet could swell any more or your belly could get any bigger you went into labour. You never thought that would end either. In the midst of the pain and exhaustion, seconds seemed like days. But it ended and the tiny baby in your arms melted away every ounce of pain and agony. This precious person looks to your for food, life and protection. You are this childs everything.

Although that thought is captivating and special, dont forget about you. If you dont take care of your own needs you wont be able to meet your childs needs. Many mums totally dive in to motherhood ignoring their own bodys cues that they are wearing down; these devoted mums pour every speck of energy into their new baby. Depleting yourself of all nutrition, res and self care will reduce your level of energy and force you to then be completely out of the picture. Whos going to care for your baby if you are collapsed on the floor?

Dont get to this point but think of the following:

1.Balance your life so that you handle your various tasks throughout the day. Yes, your baby needs to be fed, diapered, snuggled and more. But your infant depends on you to meet all of these requests. So take a few moments to consider the best way to maintain a healthy lifestyle while serving as caretaker to your infant.

2.So many new mothers feel ugly, overweight and useless. To get rid of this feeling, mum must eat right, exercise and get plenty of sleep to achieve weight loss after giving birth. It sounds simple but countless mums dont follow these guidelines. When your baby sleeps, sleep along with him/her. The laundry, dishes and dirty bathroom will still need to be cleaned tomorrow, as they wont clean themselves, but you must reserve your energy for your child. Wasting time and inner fuel on chores that can wait decreases your energy level, mood and patience.

3.Besides getting enough rest, make sure you eat the right kinds of food to achieve weight loss after giving birth. Taking the time to make healthy food choices might seem impossible but not eating correctly will keep the baby fat on, not take it away. If you have family staying with you, ask them to cook the meals. Plan the menu with them so they understand your goal of losing weight. For those who dont have family visiting, ask a friend to bring a meal over. When youre back to normal, you can return the favour.

4.Exercise serves as another vital aspect of weight loss after child birth. You may not feel like going for a 5K run, but moderate exercise will burn calories, tone your body and help you lose weight. Brisk walking while pushing the stroller, swimming, bike riding and participating in aerobic classes are good choices for a post-baby workout. Join up with other mums to make it more fun.
