Why Are The Glee DVD Sets So Confusing?

Are you a Gleek? If so, you've probably already grabbed the season 1 Glee DVD and several Glee songs from Amazon. If you're not sure what a Gleek is (it means you're a Glee geek) or if you are just a little behind the eight ball, no worries at all.

The Glee season 1 DVDs are a little confusing, and the fairly odd release dates of the various discs has upset a few folks. As a result, I figured I'd give you a brief run down on each of the Glee DVD releases, so you'll know what to grab if you're looking to plug that gleeky hole.

Glee's Complete First Season (a 7 disc set): If you are unfamiliar with Glee or don't own any of the Glee DVDs, this is what you're looking for. Released on September 14th, 2010, the complete season one of Glee, includes: all 22 episodes from Glee season 1 and an assortment of extras and behind the scenes pieces (e.g., Glee sing-along karaoke, dancing with Glee, Sue's Corner, dress like your favorite Gleek, and more).

Glee Season 1, Vol 1: Road To Sectionals: This DVD set includes solely the first 13 episodes from Glee's first season. It was released in late December in 2009 to feed the Glee addiction of those who waited patiently for the 2nd half of Glee's first season to air in the spring. It contains episodes 1 through 13 which aired from September - December in 2009. You should only purchase this if you have already purchased Season 1 Volume 2: Road To Regionals and are trying to complete your dvd collection of Glee's first season. Otherwise, the complete first season of Glee usually is available for less than this set of thirteen episodes from the first part of Glee season 1.

Glee Season 1, Vol 2: Road To Regionals: This box set includes solely the last 9 episodes from season 1. It was released by 20th Century Fox toward the middle of September of 2010 just before the launch of Glee's second season. It includes episodes 14 through 22 which aired from Apr - June in 2010. You should only purchase this DVD set if you already have Season 1 Volume 1: Road To Sectionals and are looking to complete your collection of Glee's first season. If not, the complete first season generally costs less than this set of nine episodes from the second part of Glee season 1.

Hope that clarifies any confusion you've had when seeing an array of Glee DVDs for the first season!
