I used to weigh three hundred pounds and within a period of five months I was able to lose around fifty pounds. I did not use any wonder pill or fad diet. I also conducted various researches on the effectiveness of fad diets in helping a person lose weight. I came to understand that fad diets cannot make you lose weight. The reason is because fad diets propose that in order to lose weight a person needs to restrict there calorie intake completely. When you do this, the body goes into starvation mode and that is the reason why a person ends up gaining weight. You see when your body is in starvation mode, the body starts consuming muscles instead of fat so that it can be able to preserve energy. I finally came to understand that in order to lose weight you needed to apply three fundamental principles. They include;

1. Going on diet which focuses on eating healthy food

If your diet focuses on eating healthy foods your body will not go into starvation mode as is the case with going on conventional diets. The major mistake that most people make with regards to losing weight is going on a diet which focuses on reducing calories drastically instead of a diet which focuses on eating healthy foods. You need to eat a healthy diet and at the same time keep watch of your calories. You should however ensure that you do not reduce your calories very much because this could make your body go into starvation mode.

2. Perform aerobic exercises

The best time to do aerobic exercises is just before you eat anything very early in the morning. Each aerobic workout session should last for more than twenty minutes or else it will not be effective. Cardiovascular exercises help increase a person's metabolism and therefore they are able to burn more calories.

3. Weight train

Many people are of the habit of ignoring weight training exercises thinking that they are not as effective as aerobic exercises. The truth is with proper weight training you can manage to burn a lot of calories.
