If you write a lot of how to articles then you can use your articles to create a free mini-course that you can offer on your website or blog. And again you would collect email addresses for the purpose of email marketing.

If you have a blog then by all means you can use your articles on your blog. This is one of the advantages of blogging, as you can add all your articles to your blog provided that you supply your readers with new information in each article.
The only thing to keep in mind though is that you want the article on your blog to rank higher than the article that you submit to article directories. Therefore you may want to add it to your blog first, and then when it has been indexed, you can submit it to other directories.
