subject: What Is Your Dry Eye Remedy? [print this page]

People are starting to take a stronger initiative toward their own health care. For so many years, individuals have relied upon all the synthetic medications that have been prescribed to them by their doctors. We are starting to realize that we do not want to be "drugged-up" any more. So, what is a good dry eye remedy, and how do we incorporate that into our lives?

The typical medicines we use have all types of chemicals incorporated in them. Now, just take a moment to think. Is there really a time and a place when chemicals should be used to lubricate the eyes? Does it make sense to put acid or alcohol in the eyes? Well, in most cases, that is exactly what is in most eye moisturizers!

Hyaluronic Acid, Polyethylene Glycol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, and Carboxy Methylcellulose are a small number of components that are used to make drops for the eyes. Simply because individuals have put these in their eyes, does not mean they are safe. People still smoke, that does not make smoke safe to breathe. We should try to be as cautious as possible about the stuff we put into our bodies, and that definitely includes our eyes.

Here are a few things to think about when it comes to enhancers. Two of these enhancers are called Benzalkonium chloride, and Chlorobutanol. These are used to keep the concoction, in which they are put, from spoiling, and are known for aggravating the eyes. Now, do you think it is a good idea to use these to moisten the eyes?

Being healthy, the natural way, does take some work. But, you can do it if you will only apply yourself. Stay away from highly processed foods, and fast food establishments. Diets that incorporate fish, eggs, carrots, spinach, mangoes, apricots, or other foods with large amounts of vitamin A will help with the overall health of your body and moisten the eyes naturally. It will take a little practice but, if you are determined, you will make the change.

We are a nation that eats too much junk. Our bodies are filled with all kinds of toxins and it would be better if we would help our bodies heal themselves. Flax seeds have Omega-3 acids which have a large amount of good fat. These fats are great for the health of your skin, hair and eyes.

A good rule of thumb is to use an inexpensive humidifier. These are perfect at keeping the air in your home properly moistened. This helps the vitality of your eyes, and will help to guard against the condition of dry eyes. The best time to use the humidifier is when you are relaxing, or sleeping, usually in the evening hours.
