subject: Don't Force Sales [print this page] Author: Kyle Ane Arrington Author: Kyle Ane Arrington
One of the biggest mistakes salespeople and Internet Marketers make is to force sales. They want the sale so badly and all they end up doing is driving the prospect away. It is completely counterproductive. Sales and Internet Marketing is not really about sales, it is about problem solving.
When we are new to a company, we get so caught up in learning about the product or opportunity that we lose sight of what the goal really is. Is it about how many bells and whistles it has, how fast it is or how popular it is? By the way a lot of us are trained at a job, you would think this was the case. It is very important to know more about your product or opportunity than the prospect researching to make sure you can answer any questions. You definitely want to look smarter than they. However, catching up on your learning curve is not the most important part. Emotion in Buying
Most know that the majority of transactions are done through emotion. There is a certain amount of pain associated with a need. As a salesperson or an Internet Marketer, being able to identify exactly whats causing the pain is a lucrative skill. If you are at the mall looking for something to wear to a special event, and a salesperson can fulfill that need for you and make you feel like a million dollars you will go back for more.
Conversely, the salespeople & Internet Marketers that want to vomit the information about their product or opportunity quickly lose the prospect's interest and don't get far in the industry. They are so confident that whatever they have is great for everyone and continue to force it without considering what is really driving the prospect's pain. Is whatever they have really the solution? Most of the time they will never find out because the prospect is so appalled by the approach that they quickly tune them out.
Problem Solving The most successful salespeople and Internet Marketers are good at problem solving. They quickly figure out that the more they force themselves on someone, the further they are to closing the sale. If you consistently work on solving the prospects problems, you will be viewed as someone of integrity. Looking out for others best interest, as well as making a great income. People will start referring others to you as they know you will take care of them.
My prior career was in medical equipment sales, now I'm an Internet Marketer. They both deal with problem solving, however Internet Marketing is much more lucrative and a lot less stressful. You're never on the road, no cold calling, no sales manager and no quotas. Internet Marketing is done with a community of like-minded people that are tired of the normal every day job. We have decided our quality of life is more important. Our opportunity is such that we don't have to force it on anyone because those that truly understand it and are ready for a change jump on and never look back. We work from home, know that we will get out what we put in, and instead of having a bunch of negative coworkers, everyone is so excited about their financial freedom and endless time they want to give back by helping others.
