subject: Curing Bacterial Vaginosis Naturally - Cure Bv Without Antibiotics [print this page]

Bacterial vaginosis is a very common gynecological disorder and affects most women at some point. Caused by the disruption of the normal levels of bacteria within the vagina, the symptoms include a thin gray or white discharge which has a foul, fishy odor, together with some very uncomfortable itching and burning of the delicate vaginal tissues.

Curing bacterial vaginosis naturally is a worthwhile option to try, particularly when you consider that for most women, antibiotics provide just some temporary symptomatic relief, as they do not, and cannot, treat the root cause.

Although odd isolated outbreaks are not serious, women who have repeated attacks can get pelvic inflammatory disease and even become infertile. If you are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant, you should treat any outbreak particularly seriously.

It can be very difficult to determine just what has caused BV in an individual, but some common causes include:-

* A change in sexual partner

* Overwashing

* Using perfumed products around the vagina

* Douching

* Just being "under the weather"

* Wearing restrictive panties made from synthetic material

* Smoking

This list is by no means exhaustive, but it will perhaps give you an idea of how varied the causes can be. Curing bacterial naturally can be done by using an approach which rebalances the levels of bacteria in the vagina. You should then consider what your possible cause could be and take steps to eliminate any possible causes. For example, it might be worth abstaining from intercourse whilst you have BV, or at the very least, use a condom. Try wearing cotton panties and avoid tight trousers. Also, look at your washing habits and get hold of some plain, unperfumed soap.

To naturally rebalance the levels of bacteria, there are two simple yet effective treatments which are probiotic yogurt and tea tree oil.

Probiotic yogurt is rich in beneficial live bacteria which mirrors that of a healthy vagina. Introducing it directly to the vagina via a tampon can kick-start the body's own production. Tea tree oil is often recommended for curing bacterial vaginosis naturally as it is an extremely powerful antibacterial oil which remains gentle for use on the body. You can either buy ready-made pessaries, or add a few drops to a shallow bath.
