subject: Nfl- Ravens Beat Browns In An All Around Lackluster Game [print this page] During the 10th week closing game, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Cleveland Browns 16-0. With hardly any fans in the stand due to the lowest attendance for a Monday Night, the Ravens spent the first 30 minutes of the game of this poorly played game making the Browns look good. Both sides played poorly, but obviously, the Ravens slightly lesser so. They managed to score in the third quarter, but nothing happened in the final. The only reasons to notice this game were the awful tackles that injured players.
The Ravens did not score in the first half even though they totally wasted three timeouts in 6:15 minutes and made some really absurd mistakes. Truly, the Browns were no better although at time the Ravens really made them look good. At half time, the score was 0-0 for both teams.
Finally in the first possession of the Ravens during the second half, the fans got some action. Quarterback Joe Flacco hit a 41-yard pass to Derrick Mason, who with a twist, escaped from the cornerback Brandon McDonald and advanced from the sideline to the 13 yard of Cleveland. At that point, Rice walked the ball into the end zone for the first points of the game: 0-7.
During the next play, Quarterback Quinn, who just regained his starter position, threw a wild one to Robert Royal. The ball bounced and was recovered by Landry who took it all the way to the end zone. Naturally in this game, the Ravens missed the extra point, but with the Browns offensive record, it really didn't matter.
Quinn's second interception thrown allowed Raven Steven Hauschka to kick a 44 yard goal to make the final points of the game. The game ended 16-0. Neither team could put anything together after that.
At the end of the game, the Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco stated that the game didn't go well for either side, but was relieved that at least his team won. "It was an ugly game but that's the way some of those are in the NFL," he stated.
Joe Flacco was successful this time around and completed 13 of 18 passes for 155 yards without scoring and without being intercepted. On the other hand, Quinn again demonstrated that he continues to have no control of his throwing by completing only 13 of his 31 passes and failing to send any pass to score. Furthermore, Quinn was intercepted twice allowing the scoring points. Let"s see if he starts again next week.
The Baltimore Ravens with a 5-4 record, approach within one game to Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) and are just two points away from the leader of the Northern Division of the AFC, the Cincinnati Bengals (7-2).
Meanwhile, the Browns (1-8) earned another defeat for their pitiful record and managed only one touchdown. The Ravens clearly dominated Cleveland this year in their two meetings with a total score of 50-3.
The Ravens' next game will be against the Indianapolis Colts at the M&T Bank Stadium on November 22nd, while Cleveland will face the Detroit Lions on the same day at Ford Field.
