Homestay or guesthouse?Homestay or guesthouse?

When we tour off the town to the remote areas, we tend to learn about the culture of the local community, better than that is we often stay at one of the local houses in these remote villages to experience their life, culture and more.

Tourism has arrived to Vietnam for about 20 years now and the term homestay has been developed well in those remote areas, Sapa is one of the good example of homestay where you could come stay and exchange culture as well as support the local economy.

The approach of homestay is so good that benefit both the host and the travelers but it has been recently the changes in the home of the host or the host tend to build extra room or house to make it more a guesthouse where;

- The family members are not living in that house

- Or it's run by a business man from town or cities (rent from the host)

- It's built with lots of comforts.

What are your thoughts on this issue, any further ideas or examples from you have seen?

Come travel Vietnam with Footprint and stay with the host on our Sapa tour, Puluong tours and others - we've been a good bridge between the you travelers and the local hosts.
