Sleep deprivation has been found as one of the major reasons for stress related problems. According to a researcher it has been found that amongst the women who
sleep less than or equal to 5 hours were twice as likely to suffer from hypertension than those who took the recommended seven hours sleep.
There are two stages of one's sleep:
1. REM (Rapid Eye Movement)-contributes to mental consolidation
2. Non- REM-Aids physical repair and rebuilding
During a typical night, one alternates between the above two stages approximately 4-5 times. Insufficient number of hours of sleep contributes to:
Mental irritability (5-6 hours of sleep) due to lack of REM sleep
