subject: Are You A Home Based Entrepreneur? Characteristics Of An Entrepreneur [print this page]

Virtually every entrepreneur started as a home based entrepreneur. Whether is was a basement, garage, or home office, some of the most successful companies in the world started out this way. It makes sense, this keeps operating cost as low as possible by leveraging resources (cheap is the best kind of resource when you are starting out). But, aside from utilizing everything that is available to them, what makes a home based entrepreneur successful? The one thing above all else (yes, above capital, intelligence, training, educations, etc.) is perseverance.

The journey is not easy, but the rewards are so unbelievably fruitful that you simply cannot sit by and not pursue it. The problem with starting a business is that we have become a bit of a "what can you do for me right this second" society, that it is difficult to traverse through the building phases.

It can be difficult to stay motivated when the results are not coming in, but that is exactly why the vast majority of businesses fail, at some point they give in. Results come from consistency and persistence. Accomplishing 5 goals everyday for your business (no matter how small, or large) will put you so far ahead of the competition it will be almost impossible to fail.

The key following these goals is to celebrate your accomplishments... EVERYDAY. Enjoy what you have accomplished, because each step you take brings you one step closer to your final destination. No result or goal is too small to celebrate, and keeping yourself upbeat will increase your chances of staying the course and getting to the big party at the end of the road.

Here are just a couple of quick tips that should help keep you, as a home based entrepreneur, on track and ready to tackle the daily battles.

1. Write out your to do list every night with 5 items for the following day. (Best if they are revenue producing activities).

2. Read at LEAST 30 min of a motivational book everyday.

3. Add variety to your day, whether that is in location you do your work or the type of work you do for your business.

4. Listen to at least 1 hour of training each day. (If you have a job your commute is great for this) - this will be great for creating fresh ideas

5. Exercise - it keeps the mind sharp and focused. No excuses if you want success.

Doing these small things everyday will compound and grow your business faster than you could imagine. Perseverance is you key to success as a home based entrepreneur.
