The city of Jaipur is named after the Maharajah Jai Singh II, who decided to shift his capital from the rough hills of Amber to the present site, during 1727. The City Palace was built by the great Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during his reign 1729-1732. This is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Jaipur. The City palace is blend of tradional Rajasthani and Mugal architecture. Other structures were added to the Palace by his successors. The palace contains courtyards, gardens etc. The Palace also consists of several buildings like Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal, the temple of Lord Krishna (govind Ji temple) Diwan e- Khas (Hall of Special Audience) and Diwan E- Aam (Hall of Public Audience). The Palace is made of stone and lime mortar that gives the palace as they were built by wood.
