subject: How To Fix The Leaky Steam Iron ? [print this page]

Nothing is more frustrating in the morning than hurriedly ironing clothes only to find you've left water splatters on it from a leaking steam iron. The situation gets even worse if the water leaking out is not completely clean. A steam iron leak can potentially ruin a good piece of clothing, or at the very least add to the hassle of a moment when you're already running late.

A steam iron is now a days a necessity for every habitation. We should find it ready without loosing any time. Thus we should have some knowledge to mend it, in case it suddenly found to be leaking.

If an iron is not kept neat, it may start leaking. So we must make sure that it is cleaned at a proper interval of time. If that is not maintained, the water leaking out may not be clean and will soil the clothes to be ironed.

Make sure, you go through the user manual before getting into the process of cleaning your steam iron.

Successful steam ironing requires a proper amount of level padding. And if the required padding is not available, there are chances for the iron to leak. Therefore, it is advised to use the steam iron on a rigid surface like an ironing board. Ironing the clothes on table with a towel draped over it, bed or carpet is not at all suggested.

Another cause for leaks from the steam iron is not allowing the water to turn into the steam. Since, your steam iron is designed to convert water into steam that will easily smooth out wrinkles on bulky fabrics; you can avoid leaks by ensuring your iron has time to get the water to the correct temperature.

If you lay your steam iron in the horizontal position too quickly, water that is not hot enough to convert to steam will leak.

Turn off the steam function on your iron when ironing at lower temperatures. Since your iron's steam function is designed to convert the water in your iron to steam at the right temperature, lower iron temperatures can cause water to leak if your steam setting is still activated. For ironing more delicate fabrics, turn off the steam to avoid water leaks.
