subject: What To Wear When Playing Paintball [print this page]

With paintball becoming such a popular sport, clothing options are multiplying at lightning speed. Players can find several different types of clothing in camouflage or team colors. There is apparel also made for every season, as well. Special wear is not necessary but it can add some fun to the sport as well as provided some needed protection.

Sporting a favorite paintball accessory manufacturer's logo shouldn't be the only reason to consider purchasing special game-wear. Having a set of pants and shirts dedicated to this sport can save players from ruining some of their nicer clothes, as they will get dirty. Paintballs themselves do not stain, but running and diving in the woods is bound to get competitors dirty. Even if players decided to play in their regular clothes, they should always wear a paintball mask. This will protect the softer tissue of a player's face from getting injured, especially the eyes.

Consider which season a competitor plays paintball in more often. Will it be cold or hot out? Players will want specialized garb for playing in the winter. Paintball gear designed for winter use is often much more flexible than other types of winter wear on the market, and can help players to move around more easily. On the other end of the spectrum, playing in the summer tends to get extremely hot. Playing without a shirt on might make players look super tough, but can also sting pretty badly when hit by a paintball. Try finding breathable cotton playwear for the summer.

Apparel color is also something players should consider. Is the player a woodsballer or a speedballer? Woodsballers tend to like camouflage in order to stay concealed in their wooded playing fields. Speedballers don't need to be as concerned with the color of their clothing although they should avoid wearing extremely bright or neon colors, as this does make for an easier target. There are even some companies that manufacture clothing colors and styles to match their paintball guns.

A hit from a paintball gun can be painful. If players do not like the pain, they can also purchase protective-type clothing. Purchasing a protective vest or body armor might be right up a player's alley as well. It is advisable that a new player wears protective gear as they are probably going to get shot more than some of the more experienced competitors.

Whether a competitor is a seasoned pro or a new player the thing to remember is to just have fun while playing. Worrying too much about having the latest and greatest clothing accessories is not what the game is all about.
