subject: There Is Safety All Around [print this page] When I was younger, living in California, there was a couple that went hiking in the hills by our home, one of them slipped and fell and sued the city for not making the hills and park safer.This has stuck with me throughout my life as the dumbest law suit I have personally ever heard of.The mountains aren't safe enough to hike?How do people get to the point in their lives where they take zero responsibility?Zero.This is like the lady who spilled hot coffee on herself and sued McDonalds for the coffee being too hot.Lawyers and irresponsible people have taken logic and reason out of our court systems.
In response to these law suits and many others that you read about, like the lady who put her motor home on "auto" and went into the back to make herself dinner while the vehicle was still traveling, when the motor home rolled into a ditch and she was injured she sued the manufacture and won, as it wasn't clearly stated in the owners manual that you can't put the vehicle in "auto" and leave it alone.No responsibility, no common sense, no logic!
There was another lady recently that tripped over her toddler while shopping and sued the department store.She won.How does that even make sense, if she was at home and tripped over her toddler would she sue herself?What about the man who burglarized a home, only to be trapped in their garage for a week while the family was away on vacation only to sue the family for having to exist on dog food for a week.He also won.Amazing.
Public places try to keep their establishments as safe as possible with proper signs, stairs with anti slip flooring, hand rails, gradual slopping sidewalks, mats, non-slip floors, rough, and non-slip surfaces where there is potential for water.Escalators are a serious liability when children are allowed to play on them.Companies do the very best they can to keep their properties safe but the public has to accept common sense liability and responsibility. We can't let reason leave and lawyer and irresponsibility take over.
