TMJ Concepts Many people go through life making in the know of emotional pain that has been there so extensively properties could not remember at which it came from. It appears as if it is portion of who one is, or the way one sees the world. It is principle to snap oneself out of the denial zone and realize that this constant pain is something that needs to be acknowledged and processed. The longer one stays in the denial zone the harder it is to work it though, and the more likely one will be forced to acknowledge it, least it begins to manifest on the physical level. TMJ Concepts Such as high blood pressure, cancer, lupus, fibromyalgia, migraines, ulcers, arthritis, MS, TMJ, scleroderma, and the list goes on. Rather than allowing this to be the outcome, one can empower oneself by identifying the pain and resolving to take action toward healing it. The very thought of processing old hurts might bring up feelings of resistance, especially if, on the surface, ones' life seems to otherwise be in order. What is wrong with me? You might ask yourself. Why can't I just get on with my life? The list of shame and blame is endless, which only serves to reinforce the feeling of hurt. It is difficult to go into the past and process it. But that is precisely what one needs to do in order to truly heal any emotional hurt. You no doubt have heard the expression, "No gain without pain." It applies in this situation too. When one carries the burden of unprocessed pain, sooner or later it will manifest on a physical level. All physical illness can be linked back to an emotional hurt that was never adequately processed. For every physical illness there is a mental cause and a metaphysical way to heal it. TMJ Concepts The key is to acknowledge that if you could have processed this issue you would have done so long ago. The fact the pain is still surfacing is testimony to the degree it is burdening you. You can save yourself future suffering and free up the energy that is tied up in keeping the pain down. Healing the pain is far easier than the stress of keeping it at bay, only to have it flare up again and again. TMJ Concepts The first step is to recognize the pain is real and honor it by moving your awareness into it. Meditation can effectively allow you to begin to have a sense of what the pain is about. It might be fear of abandonment, childhood spankings, physical and/or sexual abuse, anger at being discounted, demeaned, humiliated or ignored.
