You may have noticed the saying: The Money Is in the List many times online from both affiliates and gurus in regard to list building. Some of this saying is true and some are false. True in the logic that money comes from the list. False in the logic that money comes only from the list of customers.
So in order for you to make money from list building, you must have a list of customers. Does this make any sense to you?
That is why list building is important and vital to all internet business owners whether they are just starting out or have been marketing for some time. Like a human body needs blood and oxygen to survive, an internet business owner needs a list of customers. Without list building, all the other methods of internet marketing as in articles, blogs, classified ads, domain name registration etc are virtually useless.
List building also built traffic to your website before making them into customers. Though even before that, you need a list of interested people for the product you are promoting. To do that, you need to make a research on both the markets and keywords that people commonly typed into search engine toolbar such as Google, MSN and Yahoo. This is to find out what the majority want or need or their general problems. When you have done that, look for a product that best suits their needs and make a set of keywords related to that product. The most excellent way to do this is to use Google keyword tool.
When you are finished finding a common market niche, the related product and keywords, go and make a squeeze page or a blog. For squeeze page, you need to buy a domain name and web hosting account while blogs are free to obtain at either Blogger or Word Press. Make a Google search and you can easily find them to set up your free accounts.
Start with an article highlighting the frequent problems faced by most people before proceeding to give them a solution. Do not sell them anything at this point. As an alternative give them a gift in the form of a free report, eBook and even the first video if you are promoting a course. Finally before reaching the end, make an option box for visitors to fill in their names and email addresses so that they can get the gift.
