George Steinbrenner, Yankees Owner Passes Away at the Age of 80

It is a sad day today in the world of Baseball.

George Steinbrenner, Yankees owner passes away at the age of 80 in Tampa Florida, suffering from a massive heart attack at his home.

No matter what your feelings are of the Yankees, one thing rings true. Mr. Steinbrenner made that team. He was a brash and abrasive owner, but he got the job done. He was disliked by many, but he made the Yankess into the cultural juggernaut that they are.

Today is the 2010 All-Star Game, how fitting that he passed on a major day of the baseball season. Its rather poetic. We hope they make some sort of tribute or presentation for The Boss celebrating his life and history with the league.

Our condolences to his family, as this is somewhat of a sudden passing. He had just told the Associated Press that he was "Feeling Good" after spending several hours in his office at the Yankees Training Complex.

Steinbrenner who had just celebrated his birthday on July 4th, was rushed a Tampa area hospital in response to an emergency call from the owners home. The New York Daily news reported The Boss passed away around 6:30 A.M. Tuesday morning.

Under his ownership the New York Yankees won 11 AL Pennants and seven World Series Titles. He was truly a developer of a dynasty.

To probably the greatest owner of a baseball franchise, Rest in Peace.
