How many people do you know who help the poor? Do you give some dimes for a poor man or woman in the street or anywhere you find? Or do you think that they do not need some dimes to survive? Or do you think they are professional swindlers and they do not deserve a dime? Or maybe you couldn't care less? Or maybe, worse still, think the Lord will provide and you do not have to give? Maybe you don't think you have to help because others do? Or these wretched poor do not deserve your help? Perhaps you feel these poor have to struggle for their survival and do not merit your sympathy?
In many cases you are right. Those who are able to work and do not have a physical handicap, nor are they old and sick and cannot work to earn a living do not deserve your help. But life is difficult for everyone. Except for those who are millionaires or billionaires and there are some handful of them in every society.
These are the responsible ones for the poverty of others. Money and wealth are the legal property and right of the whole world population, the whole humankind everywhere on our planet. To monopolize the world's riches, as do such bastard millionaires and some rich states, is to deprive the world population of its legal right in sharing in the wealth God has provided.
Christ has said a rich man does not go into paradise unless a camel passes through the whole of the tailor's needle. The Qur'anic text tells of the same thing and those rich individuals who hoard people's wealth shall be dwellers of hell fire where their gold and silver shall be heated and their body shall be burnt with it. It shall be said to them: Taste what you have treasured for yourself'.
If this is what God has promised to the rich monopolizers of wealth then these cancerous parasites who live on the blood of people then these must be eliminated and their wealth restored to its legitimate owner the people, the whole of mankind. Those who hoard the wealth of the world are but the most abominable creatures that shall go straight to hell. But who listen to what the divine messages proclaim? Who listens to the commands of God?
But poor people are everywhere in the world, in big population (17% in the USA live under the level of poverty), India, Mexico, Bangladesh, Africa, Asia, in Europe, Latin America. Everywhere humans are in need. Famine, unhealthy water or lack of it, homeless (500 thousands only in France), people scarcely surviving.
When you search for the poor and the needy, the deprived and the wanting you will find them. When you find them and give them, of whatever you can afford of dimes, of kind words and will help a lot and will purify your own soul.
To abstain from charitable acts reflects a heinous and abominable personality. Only people without conscience who are arrogant and boasters that refrain from acts of charity. You lose few dimes or few kind words but you have a lot to win. You will feel better and your life becomes more worthy of living, unless you are an arrogant and ungrateful bastard, as most people are.
Unless you feel as such, unworthy of living this life then you must give the poor a dime.
