Earlier, when cities used to be small towns and almost everybody knew everybody else things were simpler, if you are concerned with business and its scope. Back in the days you would open a shop and expect everyone in the town to know about it as words used spread like wild fires. Also, there were relatively fewer businesses to invite any form of competition. Instead, you knew your business would flourish if you did just as much to keep the supplies coming in. And eventually you would smoke cigar watching your clients move in and out of your shop. In a nutshell, your business will be successful with just little effort.
However, if you are about to start a business coming weekend. And, if you are expecting your friends and family to turn up for the ribbon cutting ceremony, while you have forgot to mention a seven course dinner after the ceremony, then you're a fool. Because, chances are you'll end up with a scissor and no one even to hand it to you. What's the moral of the story? Things have changed.
Today, if you have a business or you are planning to start one, you must ensure you have a grand opening, proper advertisement, and quality products to follow. Should you still expect success? Of course not. Because it is not 1700s. Even if it was, then you would have faced other problems like how to save business from getting robbed or from the influence of tyranny.
Now, even if you are paying grands to ensure the best available advertisement. If your products don't appeal to people, then your efforts and grands go in vain. So, it is a combination of certain key factors which determines whether your endeavor is worth the pain.
Although there is no rigid list of things to do to ensure success of business, there are some factors which if implemented efficiently, yield fortune.
First of all, if you own a business, such as restaurant, apparel showroom, etc., you should not only be available to local customers in your neighborhood, but it would be great if people know when they arrive in town that you and your business exist. Don't be shocked, there are people who do their research online before going on trip and undoubtedly are potential customers. And you definitely, not want to miss them, when they visit your town. How can you ensure this? Of course not by sitting idle. To make your business visible on a larger platform you business must have an official website, where you can not only showcase your products but also have a discussion going on about them, blogs appearing around the corner where interested surfers can subscribe. For instance, I am waiting for Nokia N8 to be available in my town and I still haven't come across a decent dealer who has a website and has all
n8
the specification with price listed.
What did I do? I typed in google "Nokia N8 patna"
I got the following link on the first page :
http://www.getnokia.in/
I went there and filled in a tiny form within few minutes I got a call from New Delhi and they said they are trying to locate a vendor near by, which I think is the efficient way to do business.
However, if you are also a vendor and your business is not in the list of http://www.getnokia.in/ then you are bound to lose.
So Why wait and watch others take away potential customers from your neighborhood?
