An hours drive from Chennai down the East Coast Road, located along the picturesque backwaters of the Coromandel Coast, is The Rowing Centre.

The Centre aims at inculcating a passion for rowing and nurturing the spirit of rowing across a wide section of the public.

The Rowing Centre seeks to promote rowing in Schools and encourage healthy competition by conducting their first ever Chennai School Regatta The event will help to identify talented oars-persons at a young age and mold them to best prepare for inter-club, national and international meets.

Chennai School Regatta has events for students of all ages, including children less than 12 years of age. Participants will be rowing for the Overall UNIFI Championship and individual age-group trophies. There are three age categories (under 12, under 15 and under 18 years) for boys and girls each with 3 events on water and 3 Indoor events.

Regattas may be championships for a particular area or type of boat, but are often held just for the joy of competition, camaraderie, and general promotion of the sport. The Rowing Club has been true to this spirit of the Regatta by organizing the event in a manner that will promote cooperation and camaraderie among the young contestants.
