The sizes of image used is also important. Make a thumbnail of a picture that is quite large, resize it using a image editing program. Make clear links on the images. If your site is dependent mostly on images, be sure to have it in top quality, most internet users are fond browsing pictures aside from reading lengthy contents. Also, check te HTML codes on your images.

Linking

Be creative when linking, make it more appealing rather than just the usual "click me", make your site more navigable. It's best to make desciption on the links in order for the users to know what the link is for. Always check from time to time the links you add on your site, some links may no longer exist or that website may be inactive. Make sure all the links work to avoid dismay on the part of your site visitor. You can check links using validators.

Other issues

Several other issues you might want to consider inlcude the feedback feature, users can mail their comments, questions, or suggestions on how you can improve your site, one drawback though is the problem of spamming or junk mail. It's also good to provide information when was the last time your site was edited, most users would prefer a site that is always updated. Grammar and spelling are also vital, a site with numerous grammar and spelling error can be questioned on it's credibility.

If you have a done good job on designing and maintaining your site, a simple word-of-mouth would increase the traffic and page views. It's always a great feeling knowing that people are appreciating your efforts.
