Asvika distillation unit for rose water and spice oils

Recently I visited CSIR Technofest 2010 showcased by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, at India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, the Capital of India. In this technofest, I came to know that " Asvika distillation unit for rose water and spice oils" was developed by Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow - 226 015, India, under the aegis of CSIR, New Delhi, India.

This is low cost portable type distillation unit suitable for small scale entrepreneurs, farmers, self help groups, cottage industries, and research and development organizations/institutes etc. It is specially designed for producing high quality natural rose water. It can also be used for extraction of spice oils like coriander, cumin, etc and aromatic oils like mints, grasses, basil etc.

It is constructed with pure stainless steel with long life. It is efficiently designed with shell & tube condenser for proper condensation & complete oil recovery. It can be operated by firewood, agro wastes, LPG / kerosene burners. There is no pollution at workplace due to provision of chimney. It is modular construction for easy assembly at site. It can operated for 25 kg batches with RS.30,000/- per unit and with a total investment of Rs.1.5 lakhs (USD 3400)

Rose water distillation unit 'CIMAP Asvika' demonstrated to women in Ajmer and training was given to women group to make rose water. The training emphasis gave on the income and employment generation. Opportunities explained to women on post offered flowers at Shrine at Ajmir.
