subject: Creating Secret Compartment In Books [print this page] Valuable items and secret documents are usually hidden in a way thieves will not suspect that valuable items are being kept there. A book is a good material for hiding something that is very important to you. Creating a secret compartment in book is easy just follow the steps below.
Materials
1. Thick hardbound book
2. Glue
3. Cutter
4. Water
5. Metal ruler
6. Pencil
7. Plastic food wrapper
Procedure
1. Choose the best thick and hardbound book you have.
2. Select the first 2/3 of the pages of the book and fasten them to the front cover by the use of a plastic food wrapper.
3. Create a mixture of water and glue. Make sure the mixture is good enough that it can still hold the pages of the book when applied.
4. Brush the edges of the remaining pages of the book's edges with the glue mixture in order for them to stick together. Let it dry for thirty to forty five minutes. Make sure that the remaining pages will not be in contact with the remains of the glue dripping from the pages that was bounded together. Put a heavy weight on top of the book to compress the pages.
5. When the glue applied to the edges dried, open the book and turn it onto the first glued page. Use the pencil and ruler to draw a half inch border around the book.
6. Use a box cutter and metal ruler to cut the inside of the marked border. Make sure that the cute done is straight and will not damage the edge border of the book. Remove the pages that were cut from time to time and make that sure you do not rush in cutting the inner edges to make a hollow on the glued pages. Take note that any damage to the exterior of the book will compromise the purpose with the secret compartment.
7. Use the remaining glue to make sure that the bounded pages will hold by applying the glue onto the interior side of the hollowed pages of the book. Brush a second coating to the exterior side of the book. Make sure that when you apply the second coating, you only apply a thin layer of glue to make all of the pages still similar to each other.
8. Apply a thin coating of glue solution to the frame then stick the earlier save page on top of the book frame.
9. Let the applied glue solution dry for about 45 minutes to an hour.
10. When the applied glue dried, you need to cut the earlier saved page together with the edges of the book's hole in order for the hole to be accessible and visible.
11. After making sure that the glue is dry already, you may now place your valuable item in that compartment. Return back the book to the bookshelf.
Now your valuable items are safe in the book's secret compartment.
