Relief Of Woman Who left 500,000 Jewellery In Hotel Room

A lady has been reunited with the 500,000 worth of expensive jewellery she managed to leave behind in the hotel room of one of London's top hotels. The guest who is said to have been of American origin had checked out of the Westbury hotel in Mayfair forgetting that the extensive collection of jewellery was still inside.

The jewellery is said to have included a high end designer watch along with two diamond rings and a set comprising of a necklace and earrings. The items were discovered by a maid who was conducting a service of the room just after the guest had checked out.

It is believed that upon making the discovery the chambermaid locked the hotel room door before alerting the hotel manager of her shocking find.

A Westbury hotel spokesman is said to have told the story of events saying, 'The chambermaid had changes the beds and vacuumed the room, and was carrying out a routine check of the cupboards and drawers when she discovered them.' The jewels have also been described by hotel workers as being, 'stunning,' and extremely unique.

Upon the discovery hotel staff launched a search of the local vicinity to try to find the owner, they even went as far as visiting Heathrow airport to try to find the woman. The attempts were unsuccessful though.

The hotel received a worried phone call from the woman a few days later as she told of how she only discovered her mishap whilst mid flight, where she was unable to do anything about it.

The lady explained that she had forgotten the jewels in her rush to vacate the room and head to the airport and had only become aware of her error whilst midflight.

The precious jewels have now been returned to her and it is thought that she is extremely grateful for the honesty and amount of effort the hotel went to in order to reunite her with them.
