Being productive has many advantages. From a personal perspective there is a great sense of achievement every time you finish a challenging task. Often the thing that drags our personal productivity down is the timing of our tasks. There are certain times of the day when you are more productive than others. Ask yourself these questions. "When do you feel really alert and sharp?" "When is your most creative time? Have you noticed if it is in the morning, the afternoon, or even the middle of the night?" Once you've worked out the answers to these questions and added your own, you are now in a position to be able to select your most productive time and the most productive environment.

Straight away you are on the way to planning your day to become more productive. We all have different ways of working and some people work well in the mornings and other people are more productive at nighttime or in the evening. We all become more productive once we have worked out our working rhythms because this enables us to fit our work day around ourselves and not the other way round. Don't schedule important meetings, interviews or negotiations at a time when you are not alert or productive. Instead, organize yourself to do things like photocopying, filing, reading and other similar activities.

I know that my productivity is higher before lunch, than after lunch. As a result, my schedule my creative work between eight in the morning and noon. Straight after lunch, I do things which do not require a great deal of brainwork. This lasts until about three o'clock in the afternoon and then I am able to continue with my creative work. I see my clients before midday or after three o'clock which suits me fine. Often, after dinner I find that it is possible to be creative again, so this is the time that I do most of my writing.
