I have recently managed to purchase what I am now calling my forever home for my family and wow is it a beauty. Situated directly on Shoreham beach down on the south coast near Brighton, our new home is a magnificent detached house overlooking the beach. It is a modern style house and has been designed to maximise light from the sea and the stunning views of the coastline. The use of natural materials and woods throughout the house offers a unique visual experience. I could not have ever have wished for a better house for myself and my family.
However I have discovered that this mini paradise home does have one major flaw the windows. As I mentioned the house has been designed to maximise light and provide excellent views of the beach. This means that the front on the house that faces the sea is almost completely glass. Initially we appreciated the spectacular visual experience.
But soon we come to realise that these huge glass windows where creating all sorts of problems. The biggest problem is the fact that we now have no real privacy in our home. The beach itself in front of the house is a public beach used by sun worshipers and dog walkers. These beach dwellers can see directly into our house and they often feel the need to sometimes just stop and peer in which get very frustrating. We have also noticed that the front of the house can sometimes get extremely hot almost like a green house meaning that the rooms become unbearable to be in. To top it off the furniture we brought to enhance and compliment the beauty of our new home seem to be fading in colour due to the excess exposure the sun thought the windows.
Buying this house started to look like a very bad and extremely expensive mistake on my part. However I found a saving grace solar window film thanks to a little bit of research on the internet.
Solar window film is a sheet of film that covers our windows to help remedy most of the problems we where facing having a glass fronted house. It was great; the window film had a slight tint in it which actually prevented people from the outside seeing in without actually effecting out view of the beach front. The window film we had installed is designed to block out the heat from the sun but not the light which meant house become a more comfortable environment, particularly in the hotter summer months.
But blocking out the block out harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun means that our furniture is now safe too and will not longer fade. But its practical use does not stop there because our new window film also strengthens the glass against protecting it against shattering.
So if you are faced with similar problems to what I had then heed this advice and contact a few solar window film suppliers to find out how they can help you. My advice on that is to make sure you shop around as I received a varied number of quotes all very different in price ranges. Just for the record though I eventually went with Sun-X (UK) Limited who are located not far from me in Bognor Regis because their prices where very competitive and they provided an excellent service so they come highly recommended.
