subject: The Life Of Kenneth Copeland [print this page]

Kenneth Copeland was born in Lubbock Texas on December 6, 1939 little did anyone know that this Texan would turn into one of the most successful and prosperous personalities in the world of "Word-Faith" and "Positive Confession". With the goal of conveying the message of the Lord in mind with his beliefs of faith healing and spirituality, he went on to establish the Kenneth Copeland Ministry.

Before converting to Christianity on November 1962, Kenneth Copeland was a recording artist. His hit "Pledge of Love" took a place in the top 40s and ranked up to the top 12 for up until eight weeks. After embracing the Christian ways, he worked for a ministry and was hired to be the Pilot and Chauffer for Oral Roberts in the 1960s. He registered at the Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma shortly after. During that time, he became a part of the university's Board of Regents and stayed a member until he was replaced in the year 2008.

The establishment of his ministry started in the 1970s and was broadcasted to about 82 million homes in the US alone. He also ventured into publications, being a writer himself he wrote books and published magazine that catered to the needs of both adults and children.

The headquarters for his ministry did not reside in the US alone but was located in Australia, Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ukraine. With the goal of preaching God's word in mind, the ministry took off internationally.

Being in the position that he is, in he faced criticism by different individuals regarding his teachings that talked about faith healing and those who follow the Bible gets rewarded a hundredfold compared to the non-believers. Some say that his teaching about healing particularly was a destructive lie. He stood firm of his beliefs and continued preaching regardless of the many people who were putting him down because he believed that every Christian is guaranteed physical healing and financial prosperity.

Praise and worship was the key. Kenneth Copeland believed that it is important that people who have not praised the Lord in their lifetime should begin to in order to receive the gift of prosperity. People who praise the Lord frequently will be given more blessings compared to those who do not.

One of his heresies was: "God has never used sickness to discipline His children", believing that the HIV virus was not His way of reprimanding those who have acted immorally that there was an underlying cause for it beyond punishment.

In order for one to enrich his or her soul, the elements of faith, hope and love encrypted in the bible has to be the basis. The enrichment of the soul would be the bridge for a mortal to receive eternal salvation and everlasting peace in God's kingdom. Praise and prayer are the keys in attaining these gifts.

Establishing the ministry was Kenneth Copeland's bridge in achieving his dream. With God as his priority in his everyday life and with the ambition of sharing the Lord's Word with everyone to attain deliverance at hand, he has shown a pathway to a new way of life.
