From the Wisdom of Solomon the last chapter 19 and the final verse 22 using the King James Version of the Bible it says:
22: For in all things, O Lord, thou didst magnify thy people, and glorify them, neither didst thou lightly regard them: but didst assist them in every time and plac
The readers of this Scripture at the time of Solomon couldn't have envisioned or anticipated an oil spill in the gulf region
The area of the world that is involved with the oil spill now, was probably unknown to them and they probably couldn't even have imagined modern machinery that involves the use of oil such as cars, planes and so on
There time and place was then and there were individual, city wide and nation wide issues to deal with them that would have qualified as involving for them," every time and place."
It is interesting that this is the very last verse from the Wisdom of Solomon as if it was left off for the future.
But despite the disappearance of that era and the emergence of many eras and situations since, the measure of the words in this scripture remains.
The damaging effects to the environment that is taking place in the Gulf from the oil spill is affecting and threatening many interests that have been long standing to cities in the Gulf region and potentially beyond
The spill highlights the fragility and dependency on the ongoing preservation of keenly important environmental resources
Also, the seas, for fishing, swimming, reflection, meditation, recreation have long been a place to go for droves of people as recourse and something to always look for too.
As with any trying circumstance that can begin to become overwhelming and filled with obstacle upon obstacle, where the road back and the road through seems to be devoid of any remaining light, there is the living word of the scriptures for consolation and the seeking of practical help in the here and now.
But in the dark tunnels of trouble, this Scripture is as plain as the light of day, the Lord regards his people and will assist them in every time and in every place and that includes the place of mounting despair and the so far lack of viable resources to stop the environmental carnage from this oil spill and the hope and containing and reversing the undue damage that had already taken place.
The vision of this scripture can be held on to and resorted to in the place of prayer, in seeking the assistance of the Almighty Lord for every trial in every place and time including this rough patch of a tremendous oil spill in the precious waters of the Gulf region
The words of this Scripture are alive for today as the here and now presence of the Lord is the living waters of all good provisions
In Jerermiah Chapter 17 verse 13 it says,
"O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You shall be ashamed. " Those who depart from Me Shall be written in the earth, Because they have forsaken the LORD, The fountain ofliving waters."
The provisions of help and assistance of the Lord will flow forth as a fountain of living waters and bring to back to aliveness all that has been lost and needs vital restoration.
The only move to make that retains the light of hope is to go to the "fountain of living waters" for the revival and full restoration and repair of the waters of the Gulf and for all the other mounting troubles that are here and in the way in this time and place.
