subject: Why Engineering Is A Truly International Career! [print this page]

The need for engineering is widespreadThe need for engineering is widespread. This means that practically all parts of the world have engineering career opportunities that are available for the taking. This is so because engineering is the discipline, profession, and art of incorporating mathematical, scientific, and technical knowledge in designing structures, materials, processes, devices, machines, and systems for the benefit of man and the environment. As such, engineering encompasses almost every practical need that this world has. Thus, it is not very surprising why many people pursue a career in various fields and disciplines of engineering.

Some of the fields and disciplines of engineering which are highly demanded are mechanical, electrical, civil, computer, and chemical. Most industries rely on these disciplines for their planning, construction, operation, and maintenance needs.

Mechanical engineering covers a number of fields of specializations as well including refrigeration, power, air-conditioning, machine design, energy exploration, and environmental management. Energy exploration is perhaps one of the most promising fields of specialization in mechanical engineering. Aside from the fact that a career in energy exploration can take you places, the salary package is very enticing as well. There are many parts of the world that have energy deposits that require engineers for its extraction, development, and distribution. One example is the oil explorations in the Middle East, and in other parts of the world. There are also natural gas explorations in China and in some parts of the United States. Moreover, geothermal energy explorations in New Zealand and in the Philippines are largely contributing to the power needs of these countries. Thus, engineers are definitely needed in any part of the world.

Another important career in engineering that is globally needed is chemical. Thousands of industries can be found all over the world. Most of these industries are chemical in nature such as food processing and soap manufacturing. These are just two of the many other industries that are chemical in nature. In fact it is even safe to say that practically most industries deal with chemicals in one way or another. The biggest proof to this is the waste water that is generated by every industry which needs chemical processing. Therefore, industries from all over the world implore the services of chemical engineers in managing their waste water, and designing and monitoring processes among others.

Engineering is truly international as the need for engineers know no race, nor boundaries. Engineers are needed in Africa, Iraq, China, the United States, and in any other place in the world. The engineering career can be pursued in any part of the world because the concepts and the underlying principles of engineering are universal. In other words, no matter where you will go, the principles and the concepts that you have learned in engineering will always be applicable, making engineering an international career.
