subject: Tips For Working On Affiliate Marketing [print this page]

The affiliate industry provides countless opportunities for those looking to take advantage of them. Thousands of affiliates are already successfully and profitably marketing products people are eager to buy. Believe it or not, last year over $2 billion was paid out to affiliates around the world for their promotional expertise. Does that give you a picture of how big the pie is? Who said you can't have a slice of it? The goal of every affiliate, whether they're an experienced marketer or a newbie just starting out, is to fork as much cash out of the affiliate market place and onto their own plates as possible. The pond is large, and there are many fish within to be caught, and it's your decision on how you want to plan to capture them. To help give you a better understanding on how affiliate programs work, and how to be successful in them, I have list 4 very helpful tips below.

1) Valuable Products Sell, Others Don't - Even the most experienced marketer who has perfected the skill of online marketing cannot sell a product that has no value. You might make the greatest sales pitch ever, but if what you are selling isn't worth anything, you will be giving back refunds all the time. The product you promote needs to be the solution to someones problem; it has to have a fulfill a need. Take a moment to consider the products your market is currently buying, and then do a comparison to see if what you are offering will fit well with their needs. Check your sales pitch and make sure that it will convince your customers. A good sales letter flows smooth, is interesting to read and grabs attention along with lots of positive testimonials.

2) Choose the Right Keywords - Promoting products online is greatly affected by the keywords you select. For example, while trying to promote your product, which one of the following do you think will generate more traffic towards your web site; "earn money' or "buy product name'. "Buy Wally's Wonderful Widgets" is a keyword phrase that will bring you traffic ready, willing, and eager to put their money in your affiliate coffers. They arrived at your site with the intent to purchase the product from the onset. As you can see having the right keywords can greatly improve you profit margin.

3) Build Your Own Email List - When you sell an affiliate product directly by sending traffic to the vendor's page, you are building THEIR email list instead of building your own. Often, people will come back to your "dining room" or website again and again before actually deciding to purchase from your "menu." Building your own email list allows you the chance to turn your website visitors into buyers, because you can market your products to your mailing list subscribers over and over until they decide to buy something. When sending related offers to your customers, you'll be able to increase your earnings.

4) Stay focused on a single market: Some affiliates are proud that they have been successful in multiple niches, perhaps numbering in the hundreds. It is possible to make things work out that way. But if you spread yourself that far, your profit margins will come down due to less focus. It's best to keep all of your marketing energies working in one niche. You will build on your success and when you gain a positive reputation people will be more likely to purchase from your company. Once you're established in one market, you can move on to another.
