Sports book Online- CLEVELAND Wide receiver Braylon Edwards of the New York Jets has been placed on probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor aggravated disorderly conduct in Cleveland. Judge Michelle Earley gave Edwards a suspended 180-day jail sentence and fined him $1,000. His probation will be inactive, which means he will not have to report to a probation officer. The ex-Cleveland Browns player was traded to the Jets two days after he was accused of punching Edward Givens a friend of NBA superstar LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 5. "I've never crossed paths with Braylon before, but it seems like there's a little jealousy going on with Braylon and me and my friends. I have no idea why," James said that day. "I've never said anything to Braylon at all. But for him to do that is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously. It's like hitting one of my kids. It doesn't make sense." Edwards, 26, missed practice to attend the hearing. The Jets play the Chargers in an AFC playoff game Sunday in San Diego.
