subject: The Geneva Motor Show Wishlist [print this page] We are being constantly bombarded with articles and news stories on the world's finest cars on display at the Geneva Motor Show. But, unfortunately all we can do is sit and look at the pretty pictures in awe because most of them won't make it to India anytime soon. However, given a chance we would all like to bring some of those cars to India. So here is a wishlist we want to send to all those carmakers at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show.
First and foremost, we want the Tata Nano Electric to come to India. Prakash Telang, MD, India Operations had hinted that he Tata Motors might not bring the Tata Nano electric to India due to lack of proper infrastructure.
Next we want the Audi's premium small car A1 to come to India as this would be ideal for our small-car loving countrymen. Audi A1 might be powered by a turbocharged 1.4L or a 1.6 TDI diesel. The company has also displayed an electric version of this car called A1 e-tron, which we would love to see cruising on our roads. Some of our Eastern neighbors, which do not have a presence in India, are also showcasing some interesting cars that we wont mind seeing in India. Like the Chinese manufacturer BYD's E6 sedan, which is an all-electric five-seater with a posted range of 330 kilometers and a top speed of 140 kilometers an hour. Also, the Mitsubishi crossover concept PX-MiEV combining 1.6-litre gas engine with electric power from a lithium ion battery pack is something we would love to experience, if produced.
To this already long list we would also like to add the 2011 Ford Focus and Nissan Juke.
But we realise that the above list is just about lower and mid segment products. We do have an appetite for super cars and other luxury models. Starting with Audi's sizzling hot RS5, a 450-horsepower, all-wheel-drive coupe we want to move on to the Mercedes-Benz F800 a stunningly beautiful concept with luxury dripping from every inch. Ferrari is also displaying two all new technologies a stop-and-start system that reduces fuel consumption and cuts CO2 emissions by 6% and a hybrid version of a 599 GTB Fiorano called HY-KERS vettura laboratorio that can reduce CO2 emissions of the V12 engine by 35%. It wont hurt us to see any of these in India whenever they go into production.
We just hope that the carmakers get our wishlist and the postal department doesn't losses it in transit!
