In any survival situation, you should remember the acronym "SURVIVAL", which means "size up the situation", "use all your senses", "remember where you are", "vanquish fear and panic", "improvise", "value living", "act like the natives", and "live by your wits, but for now, learn basic skills".

Once met with a situation such as getting lost in the woods or in the mountain, you should always assess your situation. Ask yourself questions like "What kind of environment am I in?" or "What dangers may be lurking in this place?" or "What do I have to do to survive here and what are my resources?" You should use all your five senses to assess your environment, be wary of the dangers, and search for resources that you may use. It is also important to try to remember where you are before you got lost. Although it may be important to find an appropriate place to camp some place nearby water and food it is also advised that you not wander further but to stay put as much as possible so there is more likelihood that your friends will be able to walk past you again.

Try to relax and get a clear head. This will help you make the right decisions to survive. Use whatever you find for your own advantage tree branches, stones, palm fronds, practically anything. Mother Nature has given us plenty of resources to utilize especially in times such as this example.
