The plane is just touching down in Singapore, and you are looking forward to several days in this amazing, eclectic city. Whether it is your first time or a repeat visit, business or pleasure, Singapore dining will be one of your more satisfying experiences. The huge variety of cultural influences on this city is reflected in the enormous choices for good dining in Singapore. If you are here to shop, you will probably find yourself staying in or around the Orchard Road area. Family dining is inexpensive and varied. There are fine restaurants in the hotels and the equivalent of fast food eateries out in the open air or indoors in regulated mall-like areas. Hawkers offer their specialties at affordable prices.

With dining guide in hand, be sure to sample some of the delicious native foods. For breakfast you might like "Kaya," a sweet coconut egg jam over toasted bread, served with half-boiled eggs and soya sauce. Perhaps for lunch you could try "Bak Kut Teh and Rice," a Chinese clear pork rib soup and rice. The very adventurous might want to sample "Fish Head Curry," a really huge fish head served in a curry-flavored dish.

Where you choose to enjoy your Singapore dining is another matter. Sentosa Island is a virtual playground for everyone. There are hotels, attractions, and restaurants for both family dining and elegant, romantic or business gatherings. The huge shopping complex also has eateries, food and beverage outlets for those who want to eat and run back to the business of enjoying this marvelous city. If you're not in a rush, a quiet, peaceful dinner along the banks of the river at Robertson Quay can provide another example of good food in Singapore. The longest road in this city is Bukit Timah, and it is lined with elegant residences resting beside the tree-lined street. Good dining in this area is a wonderful experience.

You can't go home without going to Chinatown. A sample of Singapore dining must include this exciting part of the city. The streets are closed to the traffic at dusk, and everyone wanders along the roads feasting on the popular street favorites. You will enjoy eating the noodles that have been fried or the seafood that has been grilled as you watched. You will definitely find good food in Singapore in Chinatown. In fact, whether you want family dining, business meals, fast food sampling, or romantic, elegant dinners, Singapore is waiting for you. Come and enjoy!
