subject: Orange Bowl Tickets - Who Will Play In The Orange Bowl? [print this page]

Even though the Orange Bowl is still a long ways out, the game's possible participants are starting to narrow down to a few solid schools. Still, much is up in the air as of Nov. 14, 2009. With a few games left on the regular season schedule for most programs, a lot can happen. Orange Bowl tickets are going to be hard to find this year, no matter which teams are selected to play in the game. So if your favorite team does make the Orange Bowl, you ought to head online. Here are a few of the most likely teams to participate in the Bowl on Jan. 5, 2010.

Georgia Tech - The Orange Bowl will take the winner of the ACC unless the conference champion happens to be invited to play in the National Championship Game. At this point, it does not appear that any ACC team will go to the BCS Title Game, so the ACC champion will get a trip to the Bowl. Right now GT has the clearest shot at winning the ACC, as they're 9-1 heading into their Nov. 14, 2009 showdown with Duke. All that will remain of the regular season is a game against their rivals, Georgia, on Nov. 28. The Ramblin' Wreck will then have to win their conference title game to insure a place in the Orange Bowl. It's a hard road, but the Yellow Jackets control their own destiny.

Clemson - The Tigers are currently leading the ACC Atlantic Division, so if the current trends continue they'll play Georgia Tech in the ACC championship game. Win that one and they get a trip to the Orange Bowl. However, Clemson has a date with North Carolina State this upcoming weekend, a home game against Virginia and then a road game at South Carolina. Can the Tigers hold onto their lead?

Boston College - Although the Eagles are a game behind Clemson at this point, they can catch them if they win out the remainder of their games (against Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland) and if Clemson falls in the next couple of weeks. Boston College is hoping to get a shot at Georgia Tech in the ACC title game.

TCU -The clear front runner from the Mountain West Conference, TCU must finish undefeated to find its way to the Orange Bowl via the bowl's decision making committee. The Horned Frogs need to win out versus Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico.

Boise State - Boise State finds itself in much the same position as TCU, an undefeated team from a conference without a clear path to a BCS Bowl. The Bowl will probably get to pick one participant from the field and Boise State makes a good selection, especially if the Broncos finish the year undefeated. Right now Boise State, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, is a perfect 9-0 and ranked in the top 10 of the BCS. Boise State must win against Idaho, Utah State, Nevada and New Mexico State.
