subject: San Carlos Bmw Dealership Says The 1937 328 Was A Real Head Turner [print this page]

Remember the thirties? Of course you dont, you are too young and it was too long ago. Still, there was a lot of history back then, from the dire ends of the depression to the modest beginnings of World War II. Back in those days, cars were built to last. Oddly enough, the nations most recent economic recession in a way parallels the economic disparity of the 30s (albeit on a much smaller scale). Well, at least we have taken a step forward in terms of engine technology. Still, as I mentioned before, they really dont make them now the way they used to make them, and BMW plans to prove it this May with an auction unlike many of its kind.

The 1937 BMW 328 Mille Miglia Bugelfalte is one of those cars from the 30s that continues to turn heads. We are talking right around 130 horsepower (not shabby for the 30s), put out by a 1,971 cc inline six-cylinder engine coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The vehicles independent front suspension with transverse leaf spring, live axle rear suspension with semi-elliptic leaf springs and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes are other seriously unique features that any San Carlos used BMW dealer would be happy to have. This car was one of the first really high performance vehicles released by the German manufacturer, one that your San Carlos BMW dealership can point to as a heavy influence on BMWs current line of cars.

Even more impressive about the 1937 BMW 328, which will be up for auction on May 1 at the Sporting Classic of Monaco, is the successful racing career it found before hitting the consumer market. If San Carlos used BMW experts know their history, they know that the 328 started off in 1937 at the Le Mans 24-hour race with Anthony F.P. Fane behind the wheel. The model went through a few different iterations until they reached a happy medium of an open roadster by 1940. The vehicle was one of the fastest cars on the road at the time and truly ahead of its time, a tradition you can still see when you visit any San Carlos BMW dealership.

This particular BMW 328 has been passed down through the generations, tracing a lineage that saw some of the 20th centurys most influential events occur. The coming auction of such a historical and solidly built car is a once in a lifetime opportunity that San Carlos used BMW dealers maintain might never present itself again. Just think: one of the industrys most influential manufacturers. One of the industrys most influential vehicles. One of the worlds most recognized brand names. And if you have the money, you could be the one to purchase this piece of history. Its a shame I dont have the money, but Im sure the 328 will find a happy home. Your San Carlos BMW dealership wouldnt have it any other way.

So check out the auction details online when you get a chance and see one of historys most influential vehicles.
