I sometimes feel like my little apartment is outdated, especially when I am going to have people over. There are so many designs that almost seem to change with the seasons these days. However, some of my friends have done some recent redecorating lately and as I saw their newly decorated rooms, I was surprised to learn of a few things that I could do that would not cost my husband and me an arm and a leg. If you want to give one of your rooms a new look without spending a lot of money to do it, you may want to try out some simple ways to get more space by just making some small changes.
One of my friends simply rearranged furniture and added some new, fresh coats of paint. The newly colored walls were a hit and I really liked how she was able to create what seemed like a brand new room. I know that one of the biggest changes I noticed was the extra space. Her husband had bought some mounts and used them to secure their flat screen television to the wall.
Before, it was on a bookcase which was a focal point in the room, but it looked a little cluttered with all the books, pictures and then the television right in the middle of all of it. There were just too many things all in the same place. After they used the mounts to place the television on the wall, it was there by itself surrounded by the clean new paint on her walls. They moved the bookcase to their study which alone created a lot of new space in the room. It really did feel larger than before.
Another friend added accents like bowls of fruit and a new carpet rug in her living room. These were such small and simple additions, but they really made the room more appealing. Having seen their new rooms, I am excited to create some simple new changes for my own apartment.
