subject: Signs Of Labor Pain [print this page] Experiencing false labor pains is a very common phenomenon among mothers as they approach the due date. There is a significant change in the Braxton Hicks contractions, they start out as painless and infrequent and go on to being more rhythmic and stronger and sometimes even painful ones. This can sometimes confuse you into thinking it to be the true labor stage, with you experiencing labor pains. But actually this may be not be true labor.
These pains are also known as Braxton Hicks labor pains. Yes, they are not the true labor pains. The women may start experiencing these contractions at her second or third trimester of pregnancy. Some symptoms might make you think that you are in effort stage but it isn't so. Another fact is that your cervix dilation is not effected at all and the contractions don't grow consistently stronger, longer or closer.
In subsequent deliveries though, the labor signs are usually late. You must watch each and every change that your body shows and the pregnancy symptoms that you experience. Your body starts preparing itself for childbirth; you must also be mentally prepared for the labor. Recognizing the early signs of labor helps a lot in getting ready for the delivery.
Throughout these nine months, women take on several hormonal changes which affect the body greatly. When the baby is about to leave the uterus, the woman's body receives one last rush of hormones which can normally make her sick causing nausea and diarrhea. This is one of the early signs of labor. Others experience a nesting instinct where the woman is recharged and full of life and energy just a few days prior to the birth.
The cervix of the pregnant mother starts thinning and softening up during the last stages of pregnancy to prepare the mother for the delivery. The thinning of the cervix results in small capillaries bursting resulting in dislodging the mucous plug (The mucous plug seals the cervix throughout pregnancy). This dislodging of the mucous plug and bursting of capillaries result in pink or blood-colored mucus to flow from the vagina of the pregnant woman.
The contractions occur and then you have a period of relief from the pain. In order to time the period between contractions, you start timing when the contraction stops and stop when another contraction begins. If you are truly in the early stages of labour, this time period will become shorter and shorter. You can also time the duration of the contraction to see how long it lasts. As the space between the contractions decrease, the duration of the contractions increase.
Ovary pain on the other hand is a sure bet that something is wrong and another problem exists such as ovarian cysts, kidney stones, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, uterine fibroid, spontaneous abortion and more. It's very easy to mistake pain in the ovaries and other reproductive organs with pain in the abdominal and pelvic areas. This is because all of these organs and parts are located in the same lower region. Many women experience ovarian cysts as the childbearing age comes and goes.
