subject: Sinks Are Always Evolving [print this page]

The future of sinks is still being created.

A sink is shaped like a bowl and is used for many purposes, such as washing hands and small objects. Sinks have faucets from which users get hot and cold water. Sometimes these sinks have a spray fixture, which may help the rinsing process to be faster. Sinks also have drains which remove the water from the sink. These sometimes become stopped up, and then you need a plunger or a drain cleaner.

There are many different styles and types of sinks. Some of the most popular are stainless steel, enamel, ceramic, marble, concrete and even plastic. Stainless steel sinks are the most popular because they are very cost effective. They cannot be damaged easily from impact or temperature variations. Enamel is popular for kitchen and bathroom sinks as well as ceramic. Plastic sinks can be molded to a seamless design which cannot trap germs and is very sanitary. Plastic sinks do not look like plastic sinks and are very durable, but they can be damaged by very hot objects. Glass sinks are an option today. These glass sinks are also known as vessel sinks.

In today's society, the top-mounted sink, also known as self-rimming, is very popular. It is what most of the population has today. Another style is the Belfast sink, which is large and ceramic and is set under the work area. Another type of sink is the farmer's sink, which is deep, and the front is finished. The finished part of the sink is what you see. This is good, because you don't have to reach very far to get to the sink.

One type of sink that is growing in popularity is the vessel sink, which is free-standing. It is decorated all around and it sits directly on top of the surface. The range of materials that can be used helps to make this sink popular with buyers and sellers. It can be quite expensive. Today, if you go into many public areas you will find "automatic sinks," which have motion monitors. These sinks automatically turn the water on and off.

Today, manufacturers are making it possible to have deeper sinks. They are helpful for big dishes, pans and roasters that need to be rinsed before washing or being put into the dishwasher. Also, many people use utility sinks in their garages. These are usually at least three feet by four feet and often stand on some sort of leg. These are good to wash the pups, dirty feet on little kids and many other things.
