subject: Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics: Dinning [print this page]

From the figure skating to the bob sledding, from the ice hockey, to the ski jumping, there is nothing quite like being there to witness the winter Olympic games. While you are of course going there primarily to see the Olympics, its nice to know where to go for fine dining as well. So, here's your guide to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics dining experience:

Our first stop is a truly unique dining experience where you can sit around a communal bar-b-que pit while your food is cooked before you. It's a little like visiting a hibachi place, except that in place of the standard grill you see in hibachi restaurants, there is a real, working bar-b-q pit. Check out Shabusen Korean BBQ when you visit for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

The Stone Grill is probably the most unusual restaurant you will ever eat at and will certainly make the Vancouver 2010 Olympics dining experience one that you will not soon forget. All your food is brought to the table raw. It is served on a slab of lava rock which has been heated to 400 degrees and your food will literally cook right in front of you. There are no oils or marinades involved and it is likely the healthiest and one of the best tasting ways of cooking you have ever seen!

At the Memphis Blues Bar-B-Que you definitely will not find yourself singing the blues, but you should make sure that you make copious use of the paper towels at every table since you will be dining on giant platters of meat, from sausage to chicken (not to mention the world famous ribs) along with plenty of slaw and beans. It's messy, it's tasty and its one of the best damn places to eat anywhere in Vancouver.

As with any great city, Vancouver has the requisite top of the world type of dining experience you want when you're looking for a view with your dinner. The Top of Vancouver revolving restaurant is located at the Lookout! in the Harbor Centre downtown and the view is simply breathtaking. You'll enjoy dining on steak, seafood, pastas while seeing the amazing 360 degrees panoramic views of the Lower Mainland.

And for those who like the Hibachi style of eating, Vancouver has one of those as well. During the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, you can enjoy fine (and cheap!) dining at the Great Han Mongolian BBQ where you choose your meats and vegetables, hand it to the cook and watch him mix it all together on a superheated grill.
